It was a bad moment, and it came right before I was supposed to go to bed. At least I had the printout of two thirds of it in front of me to stop me from completely panicking. Somehow, perhaps because I’d saved it so many times in so many versions, my computer kept thinking that “Notes for Expansion” was the “Notes for Expansion” of three weeks ago. Which was a very bad thing, considering I’ve been writing up a storm on my Solo show. Twenty-two pages gone bye-bye. And even the backups didn’t have them…. as if I’d printed, then deleted, the last few weeks of work.
I tweeted my despair. I searched the car for more hardcopy. Then, in a last ditch effort….
Saved by the Spotlight.
I don’t know what happened, but when I searched some key words in my MacBook Pro Spotlight thingy, voila, there was the complete, correct file. I backed up wildly.
Whew.
